Following the attack on a nuclear power plant in Ukraine by Russian troops, the UN Security Council will hold an 11:30 emergency meeting in New York, according to local time, three UN diplomats have said.
Russian troops have seized the largest nuclear power plant Zaporizija in Europe, the fire in which died in the early hours of Friday morning, according to Ukraine's nuclear regulator, CNN reports.
The meeting will be open for speeches, including an official of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a UN official.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UK Foreign Secretary of State have said they want an emergency meeting after the attack.
