Nebula in Ukraine, Taiwan exercises reserve for preparedness to China

Hundreds of Taiwan's militia soldiers held training exercises Monday, as the president of the island country called for “unity” until the war in Ukraine is mulling over a danger of China's invasion, writes anews, Periskopi follows. Last year, Taiwan increased its training regimes for reserveers due to the growing tensions with Beijing, which sees the island self-government as part of its territory that one day will take, if necessary even by force.
About 400 troops participated in the entertainment exercises Monday in a programme designed to boost their military readiness. Their training began earlier this month, which stimulated the protection of a beach near the capital of Taipei.
This comes at the time when Taipei is looking closely at the invasion of Ukraine from Russia, with President Tsai Ing-wen presented himself to the reserve on Saturday as he stressed the need for unity in protecting the island.
The last “Situate in Ukraine once again testifies that the country's defence, in co-ordination with solidarity and international aid, depends on the unity of the people”, she said in a speech until she was dressed in military clothes and armed bodies.
Major General Chen Chung-chi, Director of Command 6 Armed Command, highlighted the importance of reserveists in supporting regular soldiers.
The security of the entire country does not depend solely on soldiers. In Ukraine, we see soldiers on the battlefield, and some men go to war after they have sent their wives and children to safe places. Military power is limited but people's power is unlimited” he told AFP.
The Shi Hui-bin Reserve said diving exercises made it prepared and updated with current military tactics.

China's continuing threats to Taiwan have increased since 2016, when President Tsai came to power because she refuses the claims that Taiwan is part of a single Chinan.
Chinese combat aircraft have recently broken Taiwan's air safety zone as Moscow escorts Beijing in its statement that Taiwan is an incapable part of China.
