So said today at a media conference from the Kosovo Afarism Oda (OAK) with the theme for “Business challenges in meeting public contracts”.
In addition to rising prices, OAK board member Hasan Gigolaj said that Oda has accepted many complaints from member businesses about the damages and huge financial losses being caused to them in meeting contracts with public authorities.
He said OAK requires the government and relevant institutions to take concrete steps to offer a solution to renegotiate prices and implement contracts.
Gigolaj: Major financial losses are causing some businesses
Over the week after the Oda of Kosovo Afarism, it has consistently accepted requests from member businesses related to the damages and huge financial losses that are being caused to them in meeting contracts contracted to public authorities. These contracts are facing difficulties in fulfillment, as as a result of unpredictable circumstances with world inflation taking place. On this issue, the Oda of Kosovo Afarism has also carried out a consultative meeting with member businesses, which manifest major losses that are being caused by the current situation”, he stressed.
Gigolaj further stressed that implementing contracts with contracted conditions would put businesses ahead of unwanted options, such as bankruptcy, and job extinction.
According to him, the destructive share of businesses as a result of the pandemic have been compounded by losses, while the recent changes created by war in Ukraine are affecting that in addition to energy prices, businesses face difficulties in the supply chain.

Kosovo's “Oda Afarism through this conference invites the Kosovo government as well as competent bodies to take concrete steps to offer a solution such as the release of an administrative guidance that would enable price renegotiation and the implementation of contracts under international practices. The proliferation of businesses as a result of the pandemic has helped reinforce losses, while recent changes created by the war between Russia and Ukraine are impacting that in addition to the price of energy, businesses are struggling with the supply chain. As a result, economic operators have signed contracts with public institutions at a time when there was a price stability. So changing these circumstances is causing business losses.
