They were also in contact during the Thursdays, when French President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Olaf Scholz demanded an immediate ceasefire from Russia.
Moscow has rejected such a request, reports the BBC.
Meanwhile, Macron has stressed the need to keep communication channels open with Russia and has held nine phone conversations with the Kremlin leader.
