Explosions in inhabited areas and intense fighting in the nearby town of Kyiv

Intensive combat in Mykolaiv is continuing on Monday, as a video shows new explosions from military attacks and huge smoke storms around the Ukrainian town, located about 250 miles south of Kyiv, reports Express.

CNN found and verified the authenticity of the videos.

In one of the videos taken in the Corabelleny district, the southernmost neighborhood in Mykolaiv you see explosions from military attacks on a residential area. In recent days, heated clashes between Ukrainian and Russian armies have centered around the military base on the southeastern side of the city.

In a video posted on Telegram, the regional manager for the Mykolaiv area, Vitaly Kim, claimed the Russians were withdrawing after losing two tanks in a <x0nd> tank battled” at the airport. Kim also said some of the Russian forces were evacuated from the helicopter zone. CNN has not been able to verify Kim's claims.

Another video shows a dark cloud of smoke rising from Solyan's northern neighborhood.
