Deputy Minister: 2,000 cases of violence against women, 500 against men

The one in reporting before the parliamentary commission has talked about the number of reported cases of domestic violence.

As long as domestic violence has been discussed, the National Co-ordinator for Protection From Domestic Violence said the National Strategy for Protection from Family Violence has been part of the government programme and 140 activities have already been defined.

“As a result of consultations in question, we currently have a strategy which 140 activities. Which are divided into four strategic objectives, the same are envisioned to be implemented in a three-year period. While the strategy dates back to 2022-2026, the action plan is three years old. 140 activities in question have been identified. The strategy has been adopted in the government late January of this year. Immediately after adopting the government strategy in my office, I have taken steps to identify on a special sign of all responsible institutions that are keepers of activities envisioned in the strategy. ... Of the 140 activities predicted for the three-year period, 34 have only begun to be implemented”, has stressed Shala.

It has cited the four objectives of the strategy, where it said the implementation challenge is monitoring implementation.

“The second objective is to harmonise policies and other legal acts with international standards and with the best practices, the third objective is to increase security and a co-ordination between institutions and a fair response of institutions in terms of domestic violence and the fourth objective is to treat the victim, but also to address the perpetrators of violence”, She added.

Meanwhile, member Tinka Kurti has asked if investigations are being made for institutional officials. Deputy Prime Minister Nita Shala has said that in cases where there is no adequate response from institutions, the emergency group where police and victim defender are present is invited.

Commission member Eliza Hoxha has sought to draft policies for women's residential opportunities or lower tax payments.

 “The ability of residence is a must, we can find them a job, but if there is no adequate housing he cannot stay in the shelter. These policies should harmonise with the Ministry of Environment and with residential schemes. Find the modalizations of how to treat these even if the state creates housing opportunities for them, they take life in their own hands through this emencipation program”, She declared it.

For this, Deputy Prime Minister Shala said he has been informed by Kosovo Police that the folders are being created for cases of domestic violence. She also pointed out that there are 15 activities that are meant for women's economic empowerment.
