The American and NATO symbols, at Bondstheel military base, were added to a new one.
For nine months the flag of Virginia will fly there, because for so long this state takes over command of the NATO mission in the east, based in Sjeva near Ferizaj.
The change of command was conveyed to great ceremonies, and such was said to be the work of chief-in-law Brew Hopkins.
His work greatly appreciated KFOR current commander Ferenc Kayari.
“As soon as you arrived here, you had to intervene to extinguish a large number of fires, which was out of the reach of local authorities, in September the action on auto license plates reciprocity also demanded KFOR action and command in the East was involved, as well as KP shares on cryptovas also kept this command at work. ”
Ferenc Kayar added counsel to his talk.
In the coming weeks, we must be ready for any more challenging situation, in order to demonstrate our professionalism, but to avoid misunderstandings and prevent dissolving.
At the ceremony, he was not spared, deliberately, enthusiasm when the commanders changed the symbols.
The emotions conveyed to former Commander Hopkins, who shed tears when he spoke of Kosovars.
You will always be the change, and you will always have a special place in our hearts. You're powerful and stable, like NATO, an Allied force standing here today. Thank you, everyone.
As commanders at Bondsteel, Virginia follows Vermont. This prompted the new brigade leader, Christopher Samulski, to mention a fact that has nothing to do with the best of the two countries.
“Gati 159 years ago brigades from Virginia and Vermont were on a battlefield, fought each other... But today the two brigades share this field as brothers and sisters. And when I think about this story, I'm convinced that peace is stable, security is something accessible, through work and dialogue, and that gives me hope for the future of Kosovo and the region. ”
Changing command also means changing some 600 young soldiers, all Americans.
