The goal of Nehammer's visit is to strengthen the European perspective for these countries after the context created by Russian aggression in Ukraine and increased concerns of new tensions in this region, and especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We should not leave this near region and which is so important to Europe, to other actors like Russia and allow the region to destabilise”, the federal Chancellor was quoted as saying before his trip, writes Kurier, broadcasting the newspaper Express.
“We have a particular interest in stability and good economic development in all Western Balkan countries”, Nehammer stressed.
Friday afternoon, Nehammer will meet with Kosovo Government Chief Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani. Also, the Austrian Chancellor will visit Austrian KFOR soldiers in Kosovo.
