A US Department of Defense official has said he is believed to be trying to recruit Syrian mercenaries to fight in Ukraine, writes Sky News, Pryscopi explains.
Today it is marked on the 13th day of war in Ukraine, and Kiev has confirmed that Russian troops “are deserting in some areas” due to low morals.
Ukraine's Armed Forces said Moscow is the demoralised “due to huge human and weapons losses. Ukraine says 12,000 Russian soldiers have been killed so far.
Russia is now apparently extending an invitation to mercenaries from Syria to empower their forces in Ukraine, according to the Pentagon.
An official from there said: “We assume Putin believes he needs to rely on foreign fighters to supply military power to Ukraine”.
The spokesman added that for now there are no numbers and that there are no indicators that Syrian fighters are already within Ukraine.
