Its discount in Split has occurred with the Croatian government's approval.
Welcoming the American allies, Croatian Admiral Kurt Rensov said: “This is an extraordinary opportunity for sailors to recognise Croatia's history and experience our country's pictoric and cultural sites”.
As the American commander of the aircraft carrier, Gavin Daff, stressed that this visit to the port of Split “would be crucial to reiterate our determination to the United States allies and our partners in the Adriatic”.
The ship, which was named after US President Harry Truman, is over 300m long and 40m wide. It consists of two nuclear reactors, and without refueling, it can sail up to hundreds of thousands of miles.
