Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama, has started his official visit to the United States of America.
The head of the Albanian government has had a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
This meeting takes place a few weeks after Albania has officially launched its mandate as a UN Security Council member. Albania, together with the United States, has also claimed the responsibility of co-conhesor at the UN Security Council for the crisis between Ukraine and Russia.
“Meeting with UN Secretary General Antónnio Guterres, a few weeks after Albania has launched its two-year term as a member of the Security Council, where it has just assumed the responsibility of co-eneiner with the United States”, Rama writes on Facebook.
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Gacka also attended the meeting.
During this mandate at the Security Council, Albania sits down at the highest table for peace, security and stability, the tvclean announces.
As a member of the Security Council for the period 2022-23, Albania is ready to offer its contribution to the service of peace and security, human rights and sustainable international development.
Meanwhile Tuesday in Washington, Rama will have a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
During his stay in the US, the head of the Albanian government will also hold meetings with other officials to discuss possible military and educational co-operation between the two countries.
