The White House announced today sanctions against producers of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline connecting Russia and Germany. The 10 billion-euro project (8.4 billion pounds) was completed last September. The US decision comes after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that the pipeline would remain closed in response to Russia's anti-Ukrainian movements.
