Lajcak satisfied with Kosovo opposition: I gladly listened to their understanding

The EU's special envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has said he was divided by the meeting he had with opposition parties in Pristina, on his joint visit with US Emissar for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar. “Today, the American emissary and I, have met the opposition political parties in Kosovo. “Today, the American emissary and I, have met the opposition political parties in Kosovo. I was pleased to hear their understanding of the importance and support of dialogue on normalising relations”, Lajcak wrote.
This Tuesday, the two emissaries held separate visits to Kosovo opposition parties, PDK, LDK and AAK, as well as the Serbian List.
Escobar and Lajcak, on the first day of their official visit to Kosovo on 31 January, met with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi, chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman Ramush Haradinaj had identical requests and expectations from dialogue with Serbia at the separate meetings they have today with the special representative of the European Union, Miroslav Lajcak, and United States envoy for the Balkans Gabriel Escobar, writes the Express.
Ordered guests at the US Embassy in Pristina, Krasniqi, Abdixhiku and Haradinaj announced after meetings with the two diplomats that they have expressed the same requirements there. Leaders of the three opposition parties expressed their support for reaching the final agreement with Serbia.
In addition, the three oppositions alike see the framework of the agreement they say must be reached. They want the agreement to contain mutual recognition, not to violate the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as to respect the constitutional order, writes Express.
“The PDK supports dialogue as a mechanism for achieving comprehensive final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which ensures mutual recognition without violating state sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order”, the chairman of the country wrote PDK, Memli Krasniqi, after the meeting. He said on Facebook that the role of this party was discussed.
Accompanied by Deputy Mayors Lutfi Haziri and Kujtim Shala, LDK chairman Lumir Abdixhiku, announced that at the meeting, he has expressed similar positions with Krasniqi.
“In this meeting, we announced representatives in question on the LDK's positions faced the political situation in the country, with particular emphasis on the dialogue process. We once again disclosed our political position on this process, its importance for our country, and the need for the same to end with mutual recognition and full normalisation of relations between the two states by respecting the territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order of Kosovo”, he wrote.
Abdixhiku said the two collipmates have praised the LDK's role in the country's important processes, such as dialogue with Serbia.
Seeking more active US role, AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj thinks with the same epilogue, the final agreement with Serbia.
“I have reiterated our commitment to a legally binding comprehensive Agreement which has a mutual epilogue on existing borders and respects the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo, which can only be achieved with the active role of the United States of America”, Haradinaj wrote on Facebook after the meeting.
This is the second day of the two emissaries' visit to Pristina, after which they will also go to Belgrade.
After meetings with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti yesterday, European diplomat Miroslav Lajcak said he will continue discussions with them on plans for the coming weeks and months.
This was a good opportunity to discuss our plans in the coming weeks and months”, he said.
The European emissary said they will stay in Kosovo by Wednesday. Until tomorrow, he stressed that he hopes the “s have a clearer picture of what we should expect from the future and how to build the” process.
While Escobar assured that Kosovo has a good partner and friend side by side. “You should be friends with the United States”, he said, while speaking of how Kosovo should follow its EU integration path.
From the American perspective, I just want to stress that the United States supports Kosovo's independence and sovereignty”, the American diplomat said in advance.
