Kosovo Police Action in Border Areas: Minister Svechla tells details

Interior Affairs Minister Xhelal Svecla has said the police action that took place on the morning of this Thursday in the Pristina region's (Podujevo) border areas -- North Mitrovica (Leposaviq, Zubin Potok) -- as well as in the border zone linking the Republic of Northern Macedonia (Viti, Gjilan) -- testifies to strengthening the legal state, preventing smuggling and trafficking of goods through illegal routes.

Svecla through a media communique has said that through the continuation of combating and preventing smuggling, maintaining public order and law enforcement, Kosovo institutions care for the welfare and creation of a safe and secure climate for all citizens.

I commend the Kosovo Police for their unhurried commitment to preventing smuggling and other criminal activities. As Minister of Internal Affairs commends the Kosovo Police in successful realisation of the operational plan in preventing and combating crime, as well as all forms of smuggling, including border zones linking the Republic of Kosovo with that of Serbia, as well as in the border zone related to the Republic of Northern Macedonia. This testifies to strengthening the rule of law, preventing smuggling and trafficking of goods through illegal routes, closing and unable to access illegal routes used by smugglers. Through continuing combat and prevention of smuggling, maintaining order and public calm as well as implementing the law, the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo care for the welfare, health and creation of a safe and secure climate for all citizens, including those living in border areas”, Svecla wrote.
