The European Union “strongly condemns attacks on EULEX, KFOR and the Kosovo Police” and calls for maximum restraint and immediate action for “escalation of the situation, which includes content from provocative actions, threats or intimidation”, it says in an EU statement on Serbian media.
The EU stresses that the situation in northern Kosovo is still tense and that “must be respected rule of law and that no form of violence will be tolerated”.
In this statement, the EU again calls for both sides to engage and contribute to a political solution so that tensions can be reduced.
“We expect Kosovo and Serbia to return to the dedication of creating an adequate environment for reconciliation, regional stability and better co-operation of their citizens, which includes protecting the Serb population in northern Kosovo”, the EU statement said.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reiterated yesterday that removing barricades in the north is only a matter of days.
It can't last for months. Can't even for weeks. It can only last for days”, Kurt said. /Reporter.net
