And this issue, but also achieving visa liberalisation for Kosovo by the Czech EU presidency, which ends its mission at the end of this year, are two of the biggest achievements during its six-month mandate.
So at least he has declared Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Kostatka, in an interview for “europeanwesterns”.
“First, we have had a good EU-Western Balkans summit held for the first time in the region in Tirana. Like the European Union, not only have we reconfirmed our commitment to the integration of the Western Balkans, but we have also called for accelerating the enlargement process. We have held the Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) with Albania and Northern Macedonia. Bosnia and Herzegovina has received candidate status, Kosovo visa-free regime. Furthermore, Kosovo has submitted application for EU membership”, the Czech MPJ's number two broadcasts Klankosova.tv stressed.
He further clarified that in the first part of 2023, the EU presidency will head Sweden, which, according to him, will address the issue of Kosovo's EU membership.
Kostunica said this state is expected to start negotiating with member states in order to bring Kosovo closer to the EU.
“From each presidency is expected to do what is necessary. In view of the date when Kosovo decided to hand over the app (December 15th), we have not had more time to do than inform COROPER ambassadors (The European Union's Permanent Representatives Committee) of EU member states that Kosovo has submitted the app. The upcoming Swedish presidency will meet with consultations with member states”, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Kostunica.
