So said Tahiri at the meeting held today with accredited ambassadors in Kosovo.
EU membership in the Council of Europe is not linked to other political processes! At today's meeting with accredited ambassadors in the Republic of Kosovo, whose countries are members of the Council of Europe, I initially thanked them for their support in Kosovo's path to membership, stressing that Kosovo, its constitution, and the most important laws have observed and embedded the values this institution represents in the respective legislation. I also stressed the need for Kosovo citizens to have access to the instruments this institution has, in particular at the Court for Human Rights”, Tahiri has said.
He has added that Kosovo over these years has testified that human rights and rule of law have it in its primary agenda, and that Kosovo's membership is a factor of time.
“From the ambassadors I asked that this process not be linked to other political processes, such as dialogue and other issues, but as a civic and fair right of the state of Kosovo to be part of this institution. Kosovo has proven through these years that human rights and rule of law are in its primary agenda, and that Kosovo's membership is a factor of time. At the same time, as a country we have had a very constructive and supportive approach to one of the members, in this case Ukraine, taking all the necessary steps to be in line with the Western world” has concluded Tahiri.
