Albanian-American organisations with one message: End of Serbia's migration

Some Albanian organisations have signed a declaration expressing concern for the obstruction of progress and provocations made by Belgrade.

The “We signed representatives, representatives of the Albanian-American community, are deeply concerned with the deliberate obstruction of progress and provocations stemming from Belgrade. These tactics are intended to fuel tensions and undermine EU-led and US-backed efforts for any realistic and sustainable peace agreement and mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia. Serbia remains a protracted hand of Russian interests in the region, with growing public support in both countries, strengthening the growing alliance between Vuciqi and Putin's regimes. While Vucic and his collocators are being enriched through their ominous links with Russia, bowing down to organised crime and Putin's aides throughout the region, diplomats are continuing to tolerate and pet”, the statement said.

According to Albanian organisations in the US, current pressures from diplomats seeking further compromises from Kosovo and its citizens are contrary to democratic principles of justice, equality and progress for the Balkans and Europe.

“History has always testified that the cusp of Vuciki and his Milosevic-era collocators, who constantly undermine the efforts of the democratic world, hinder progress and lead to inevitable escalations. However, whenever Serbia makes complaints and flirts with Russia and/or China, international partners surprisingly seek additional concessions from Kosovo citizens. They seem to force Kosovo towards an unstable agenda of delayed solutions, instead of supporting this popular new democracy that aspires to be a model for the entire region. These regrets approaches have resulted in keeping Kosovo in oblivion for decades, imposing much higher costs for Euro-Atlantic allies and contributing to the sufferings of all Balkan peoples”, it is further said.

Kosovo's “Republic is an aspiring democratic state. Its constitution stipulates that each citizen, regardless of race, gender, or ethnic affiliation, is equal to the law. Kosovo has the more advanced liberal democratic framework with comprehensive rights to minority action, particularly for the Serb minority rights with which neither the most advanced democracies in the European Union can boast. These rights certainly do not comply with the terrible treatment that Albanians continue to have in the Presevo Valley in Serbia. We welcome the sacrifice, democratic principles and delayed commitment of the Kosovo leadership to rule of law. We also call on the entire political and civilian leadership in Kosovo to promote efforts to normalise relations and integration of all Serbs in northern municipalities with other citizens living in Kosovo”, the statement said.

Albanian organisations in the US estimate that Kosovo's critical goal is its quest to join all Euro-Atlantic organisations as a capable and responsible partner to allies in Europe and the US.

Kosovo has no alternative but to reject further concessions that divide the country along ethnic or religious lines. Instead of pressure for further compromises, Western leaders should embrace Kosovo as a reliable partner a source for stability and rule of law in the region. International pressure must be on those countries that have not yet recognised Kosovo to accelerate its entry into NATO. With a little bit of luck, if Serbia sees the determination is real, it could probably break off the alliance with Putin and embrace Kosovo as an independent state within Europe and the NATO coalition”, it says in the end.
