Serbia discriminates against Valley, Presedar leaders show what Escobar promised

Albanians in the Presevo Valley continue to be discriminated against by Serbian power.

Albanian leaders on this side, days ago were received at the American State Department, where they demanded that the Albanian Valley issue be part of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

Albanian MP in Serbia's Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, in the public broadcaster said they have taken pledges from the US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar that he will suggest his European colleague Miroslav Lajcak a meeting with Albanian Valley representatives.

We have taken a pledge from Escobar that I will talk to Lajcak and suggest a meeting with us. We have also applied for a meeting, and we expect that this time there will be positive answers, as the question of the imminent Valley should be the subject of the talks”, Kamberi stressed.

He has said that during their meeting with Escobar, they reiterated their position that it is unacceptable for EU officials to meet with northern Kosovo Serb leaders who are on the American blacklist while denying any meeting with Albanian representatives.

Kamberi has further said that the request by Albanians of the Presevo Valley during meetings at the State Department in Washington has been to include the Presevo Valley issue in Kosovo dialogue Serbia.

“If you want calm in the Western Balkans and if you want normalisation of the Kosovo-Serbia reports, except for the problematic issues between the two states, the issue of Albanians in the Presevo Valley is a matter that can produce tensions and we see the solution by respecting the principle of reciprocity in the right, by building the same standards of treatment of minorities that would be valid in both states”, Kamberi added.

He has said there will be no central normalisation of relations between the two states, if Serbia continues with such treatment of the Presevo Valley Albanians, with methods of moderate discrimination, which, according to him, is going to extremes by pouring the Presevo Valley out of Albanian youth.

Meanwhile, National Albanian Council Chairman Ragmi Mustaf has praised the US visit extraordinary and historical.

With this visit, not only do we fill ourselves with optimism but we make sure that the Valley Albanians have an extraordinary support of the State Department, Capitol Hill, Congress Senate and Albanian lobby. For us it is a vital issue that the Presevo Valley is part of the Kosovo-Serbia-x1 comprehensive agreement, Ragmi Mustaf stressed in “RTK Prime”.

He has said that during his visit to Washington, Albanian representatives have been made clear that the US stay close to them, and that pledges are not to be overlooked by the treatment of the Valley Albanian theme.

Keeping in mind that Escobar himself well knows the situation in the region, we are faithful that those vows we discussed at the State Department will be the direct purpose of American diplomacy”, Mustafi underlined.

He has now said that there is no reason why what is offered to Serbs in Kosovo is not offered to Albanians in the Presevo Valley.
