This proposal is believed to have been made by French officials, and supported by at least four other states: Sweden, Belgium, Holland, and Spain.
ET The IAS is a European system for authorisation and travel information.
Following growing concerns about terrorism and the crisis with migrants, European officials have long called for better management of people entering EU borders.
Through this travel authorization system, information needed to prove that a person poses no threat to security will be collected and updated.
This system is completely electronic, enabling residents of countries without visas to enter the Schengen Zone.
This system is similar to the American System E The STA, which serves the same purpose.
Legal procedure to approve E system TIAS started in 2016, and the system is expected to be fully operational by 2023 without an exact date.
The European Commission has recommended visa liberalisation for Kosovo in 2018.
On October 12th of this year, this Commission has confirmed in the annual Progress Report that it supports the recommendation made to abolish visas for Kosovo and that the state has fulfilled all criteria.
