It's the most popular show in “Netflix”, why is everyone obsessed with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer?

In the world of television it's a hit of the moment. ”Dahmer”, a series of Netflix platforms inspired by the true history of Jeffrey Dymer, serial killers from Wisconsin, U.S.A., who in the 1980s killed 17 young men in Maccabre ways, are well liked by audiences worldwide. But on the other hand, he has caused many more [...]

But on the other hand, it has caused much debate: from being racist and homophobic to wanting to instrumentise pain. The serial killer's glasses have already been auctioned for the $50,000 amount, as if they were cult objects.

With Ryan Murphy's scenario (which in 2011 wrote the book “The history of horrors in the US” and Jan Brenan serial “Dahmer: The history of a monster” is a worldwide success.

Available in Netflix since 21 September, it reached the record record of over 196 million views in the first week alone, bringing it to the top of the list of most English-language series. It is classified in 10 of Netflix's best series in 92 countries around the world. And for a few days it's the most popular show in Italy.

So a triumph, which at first could not be described as guaranteed, as confessional events are among the worst that have ever occurred in recent decades' history. It relates the story of Geoffrey Dahmer, a serial killer who, in addition to the execution of 17 boys, committed acts of sexual violence, necrophilia, cannibalism, and the destruction of victims.

Actually, the series is classified as <x0orre”. For example, the 10 - episode series shows his home, such as the “the horror museum”: with a cut head preserved in the refrigerator, as well as some genital organs, 5 skulls scattered around the house, and a skeleton over the colodies.

Horrible scenes, too, for the worshipers of this shit. Why this show is being so popular, it's a big debate. The material is well fulfilled in artistic terms, it conveys the charm of evil. The main actor is thrilling in his interpretation, but the details are terrible.

Then there are strong criticism. The first charge is that of racism. The serial killer acted undisturbed for 13 years (murdered during 1978-1991, in 1992, was sentenced to life imprisonment, and two years later he was killed by a schizophrenic prisoner) because police repeatedly ignored complaints and alarms given by neighbours.

And this concealed the arrogance and sense of police superiority “white” against “zacs”. This is one of the most attractive elements in the public, at least judging by social networking comments. Then Millook's prosecutor (where the majority of the murders occurred), Michael Mechan, felt obliged to declare in an interview with the TMZ that police officers would never close their eyes to Dahmer victims, only because of their race or their sexual orientation.

This is a ridiculous idea”- he said. But racist approaches are also denounced in serial background. Production co-ordinator Kim Alsup said in an interview for the Los Angeles Times newspaper that it was “very badly handled during shoots”. She confirmed that she was one of only 2 black people who worked for this series, and often their colleagues mistook their names.

The other big charge is that of homophobic. In fact, the serial killer was gay (his victims were young boys) and Netflix used the term LGBTQ+ as a license plate to emphasize the homosexuality of Dahmer. The LGBTQ community reacted immediately, asking the company to erase it, which Netflix did.

At the same time, the victims ' families accuse the excessive exploitation of their pain. During the trial against serial killers, he was called up to testify to Rita Isabel, the sister of one of the victims, Errol Lindsey, who was killed when he was only 19.

Eric Perry, Errol's cousin, posted the true evidence of Isabel on the Twitterite, comparing it to that re-created by Netflix, writing:“Do we still need these movies? It's not up to me to tell you what to see on the screen. Crime always attracts audiences. But if you're really curious about learning the victim's point of view, my family is very angry with this series. There was no need to be traumatized again, and for what?

The problem is the victims' families have not been contacted by Netflix, so their version is missing. Rita Isabel made this clear:“When I saw a part of the series, I was very upset because it gave me back all the emotions I felt at the time.

Netflix should have demanded our opinion or asked us what we feel. It would be good to give some of the income to relatives of the victims. But this isn't happening. Sadly, they are gaining money from this tragedy. It's pure greed”

Professional criticism of this berry has also raised its voice on certain aspects of the series. For example, the magazine “fiety” criticises it for “humanisation” Even fiercer were the criticisms of “Vany Fair America”, which argues that the story that deserved to be underlined, was that of a marginalised colored community that sounded alarms that fell on deaf ears. Meanwhile, the series focused on the horror of crime.
