Jasharaj: Enraged Nagavci, Sabbath teachers may be afraid

SBASAK Chairman Nundman Jasharaj said the education minister's anger, Arberie Nagavci, is not allowing a solution to replace hours lost during the strike to be found. According to him, there will be no lesson this Saturday.

Jasharaj said they have been waiting for Minister Nagavci to invite him to the meeting this week to find a solution but have not received an invitation. He deemed teaching in some schools failed last Saturday, saying 70% of educational institutions have responded to union calls.

In an interview for Kosova Preess, he said that if Nagavci wants to keep his anger against the SBASK, then to invite the Parents' Council to the meeting.

“Last Saturday, reports say that although 70 percent of educational institutions have respected Article 34, there have been educational institutions that have expressed a kind of willingness to work, but last Saturday not only us but parents have appreciated it as a failure because there has been an extraordinary lack of students. So Nagavci, even if he wants to continue his anger and war on the SBASK, it would be good to at least speak with the Council of Low Parents and talk... I had asked Nagavcin to allow the anger and whims, the strike was finally suspended, we are in the learning process, and it is generally good to stabilise this geox1> teaching system, Jasharaj said.

Jasharaj said that if the replacement of the hours was left to the teachers, then it would be impossible to realise the program of this school year, but according to him, Nagavci's approach through orders and threats has irritated them even more.

He added that Nagavci is mistaken with her attitude towards the SBASAK.

I am convinced by experience as a teacher that if we let the teachers in their independence and beg them to make sure they do their best to accomplish this educational year's program, we would have far greater successes than by orders, by inspectors, by threats of sacking, because that only irritates teachers and does not need the government, MAST a situation like last Saturday... Nagavci is wrong with her attitude, is continuing a figurative war against SBASAK... No value even if all education workers went on this Saturday, if students don't come, Saturday will be in vain and we won't have a school process”, he said.

Educators who disobeyed the SBASK and took classes last Saturday, Jasharaj says they may have been afraid of government threats of sacking.

The “may have created some evental fears even for mass withdrawal because it was a threat, inspectors have gone and made lists, and no results are obtained. The U.S.S.S.S.R. doesn't affect the attitudes of teachers... Saturday turned out to be a problem, I can't understand Nagavcin why all this resentment against SBASK”, he said.

The Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo, part of which is the SBASK, went on strike 25 August and suspended it on October 1st. Their demands are 100 euros per month until the law's entry into force for wages. The strike could return in January if no demands are met.

Meanwhile, August decided to replace lost hours during September by changing the school calendar, but neither the SBASK nor the parents nor the municipalities agreed with it. They are refusing to replace the lesson on Saturdays, recommending other solutions to be found.
