“Although Russia is increasing the number of terrible attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure, President (rus, Vladimir) Putin is failing in Ukraine”, Stoltenberg said at a media conference before the start of the meeting in Brussels, among the defence ministers of the alliance member states.
He has said NATO will conduct annual nuclear protection exercises next week, and that it is closely monitoring Russia's nuclear forces.
We haven't seen any changes in Russia's positions, but we're on guard”, he added.
He has said that any attacks on NATO's critical infrastructure will spur “common and established”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed the decrees for annexation of four Ukrainian regions -- "Koldisk, Luhansk, Zaporija and Herson.
He has said afterwards he will consider attacks on these territories as attacks on Russia itself and will use all means to protect them.
The West has condemned Putin's decision to annexe, saying it is contrary to international law.
The war in Ukraine has begun on February 24th.
President Putin calls the war <x0 special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes.
