Austria confirms visa liberalisation for Kosovo nears

Austria's Foreign Affairs Minister, Alexander Schallenberg, after the meeting he had in Vienna today in Austria with Kosovo Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Minister Donika Grovalla, at a media conference has voiced optimism that visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens will take place a short future. [...]
Schallenberg said Austria has supported Kosovo all, even before the Kosovo war, at the time when dictator Slobodan Milosevic oppressed Kosovo.
We also need your cooperation and I believe we're on a good track. From February 24th, our world has changed, after the start of the war in Ukraine and its effects are felt even in the Balkans. We are pleased that Kosovo has taken a very quick stand on this issue. We all know we have to be careful”, he said. According to him now is a time to make important decisions for the Balkans.
“Brussels is discussing candidate country status for Bosnia and Herzegovina and visa liberalisation for Kosovo. It is incomprehensible why the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo has lasted so long. All Balkan states belong to the EU. I hope that for a short time visa liberalisation for Kosovo” will occur, he said at a media conference as well as with Kosovo Foreign Affairs and Diaspore Minister Donika Grovalla.
He has also cited normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. “is a hope to find a compromise readiness”, he said.
While Kosovo Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Minister Donika Grovalla has thanked Austria for the support she has given and is giving Kosovo. “Mbi 90 for the people of Kosovo, supports the road to the EU and NATO, we are European. Austria is welcome in Kosovo, I want to invite concretely to come to Kosovo and invest there”, she said.
Gervala said Serbia has not respected the sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo in various cases.
“over the summer we have had a development by our government there has been an attempt to continue regulating relations and enter into an agreement with Serbia, but it has not worked”, she stressed.
According to the neighbouring state, Serbia has made threats to Kosovo. Serbia has brought its army near the border. Even the Russian ambassador was at the border where he inspected the Serbian Army, this situation has been overcome with the help of NATO”, she stressed.
Kosovo's top diplomat, said we should not focus only on small issues in dialogue. We need to know why we're dialogue. For us and our partners as US, Germany, etc., the goal is obviously mutual recognition”, Gervala said.
