Paola Cavazoni, a professor and manager of the initiative “Pawse Atelier dei Sapori”, has recently been in Kosovo, seeking to raise awareness of principles and values of access to food, taste and nutrition in childhood education.
The team from Italy met with students, teachers, directors and school cooks involved in the project.
The objective of these events was to introduce some of our studies and experiences in the schools we met, to encourage them to assess the potential of the experience and knowledge that everyone has in his hands every day, and to live in a school and her kitchen”, Paola said.
Another goal was to divide certain guidelines on health that can harmonise relations between tradition, innovation, education and health, even from building the school menu”, she said further in an interview for Osservatorio Balcani and Caucaso.
“Among the reactions that hit us the most was the teacher's surprise to see the topic of food tied to an hour of teaching, where food was treated as one of the languages of experience and knowledge and part of the school's identity and planning”.
The activist said that in Kosovo, the numerous opportunities offered by fruits and vegetables in an educational way, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.
Looking into their eyes, the suddenness of exploring something of home and daily use can sometimes be considered poor with different eyes and understanding how a simple seasonal vegetable can become a precious treasure: from roots, to color, to taste, to color to the essence of a vegetable or fruit”.
“We have also noted how hearing and doing together about this topic has contributed to the breakdown of the hierarchy of roles -- all from cooks to teachers and directors, determined to work together to exchange knowledge of nature and quality of food, to experiment together”, the activist added.
We had a strong feeling that thanks to the involvement of cooks who were busy with us during the days in Kosovo by preparing local dishes or answering questions about school feeding education we had helped support their educational role at school”
Then we learned from teachers and people involved in training the value they reserve for welcoming and caring their schools”.
