Prosecutors and cantonal police report that a 44-year-old Albanian resident of Albania is in custody at the Ticino Canton since January 11th, 2022, as part of a drug investigation.
He was arrested by Serbian authorities in October last year and extradited to Switzerland on the basis of an international warrant issued by the Ticino judiciary.
The 44-year-old is suspected to have been involved in a major heroin and cocaine trade in Ticino, writes polyzizeynews.ch, broadcasts albinfo.ch.
He is accused of committing a serious criminal offence under federal law on narcotics and money laundering.
The investigation, which is part of a series of investigations leading to the arrest of a 56-year-old Swiss national living in the Lugano region in February 2021, is being co-ordinated by prosecutor Margherita Lanzilo.
