Kosovo police are continuing to stay close to the Brnjak and Jarinje Border Point, where local Serb residents have placed barricades to prevent vehicle flow, following Kosovo's Ministry of Internal Affairs' decision on reciprocity with license plates.

The situation has been quiet last night, although residents have also set gravel as barricades.

Kosovo Police spokesman Bucky Kelani has indicated that the situation is continuing to be the same in that part.

He said the situation even at night has been calm and so far there has been no incident.

“Site is almost the same. There are obstacles on both sides. There is now a piece of gravel that they have set as a barrier. The situation is calm in general, and like every time Kosovo police are doing their job in the best way”, Kelani told Telegrafi.

Today is the fourth day since the Kosovo government has decided on reciprocity measures for vehicle plates from Serbia, while in turn local Serbs have blocked roads leading to border crossings in Jarinje and Brnjak in northern Kosovo.

The Kosovo Police Special Units are located in these two locations, until the two states exchanged charges and counter charges after these developments.

Despite the situation's calmness, the display of Serbian gendarmerie in the vicinity of Kosovo's territory has raised concerns.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti the previous day has been declared again about the situation at border crossings, where Serbs are protesting the reciprocity move for the license plates.

Kurti has called on Serbs not to block the roads, while adding that the decision on reciprocity for the license plates is fair.

The Special Unit is there to protect border police and border points, I constantly appeal to Serbian citizens who do not need to block the roads, since it is hindering freedom of movement and freedom of self”, Kurti said.

He reiterated that the decision being carried out is not against anyone.

“I don't understand that bitter anger of the president of Serbia, he has been very well aware that on September 15th, the deadline of the agreement Serbia itself has accepted, and I would like not to have prov boards neither of us nor of Serbia, but because they are insisting on those signs, we will have to have it”, Kurti told the media.

Meanwhile, European Union for Foreign Policy High Representative Josep Borrell has called for Kosovo and Serbia to reduce tensions following the establishment of reciprocity plates by the Kosovo government on Monday.

Through a statement, Borrell's office has called for avoidance of any possible provocation after tensions arose in northern Kosovo.
