Mismanagement causing loss: Budget revenues rise due to government measures

Limited measures for preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which have been taken by the government from August 30th and which are in force until September 26th, are expected to affect the decline in business circulation and the reduction of budgetary revenues. Kosovo Tax Administration Director(ATK), Ilir Murtezaj, has said that any restrictions in economic activity impact a decrease in circulation for businesses, which reduces tax revenues by automatism.
In this direction, we still don't have the first indicators of how much they're going to work, but the very fact that gastronomy, but all other businesses are allowed to do their work only until 9:30, this with automatism will produce a circulation reduction, also for tax revenues”, Murtezaj points out.
Director Murtezaj in an interview for Kosova Prees has said that in the January-August period, ATK has invested about 400m euros, or about 100m more than years.
“Constitute that during the January-August 2021 period, we have managed to register 399.3m euros, which if compared with the same period last year, is about 97m euros more. However, the year 2020 is not a year we can refer to because it has been august year because of pandemic. And based on the same period in 2019, it turns out that we've had an inflow of revenues for over 40m euros or 11 per cent”, Murtesaj points out.
As far as the measures 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 of Paco's Economic Resurrection in terms of supporting workers and women in business, Murtezaj says about a thousand businesses have applied about 2,000 and 200 workers. For the measure 1.3, which has to do with women's employment, the number of applications is 644 per thousand and 142 employed.
Murtezaj shows when the means for potential beneficiaries are expected.
After the ATK's development of the app, the finance minister has also established the commission, which will address these requirements and this commission is already in the phase of verification of these requirements and as soon as they complete their verifications, then they will proceed further to the MF, respectively, in the Kosovo Treasury, where they will also proceed with the payment for potential beneficiaries to take advantage of these <x1) measures, he stressed.
However, Murtezaj has appealed to all businesses to declare workers for working relations or otherwise to be punished in the days ahead during inspections.
In the next few days, we're going to go to the ground to inspect all businesses where we have indicators that there are non-formal employees, with the goal of always formalizing all employees, formalism which, in addition, brings benefits to the employee, also for business, because it creates a fair market, equal or equal competition for all taxpayers. So we appeal to all businesses to take advantage of this opportunity to formalise employees, but also to prevent the penalties that may follow”, Murtezaj says.
The ATK director has also said that in addition to the revenue collection function, they constantly expect to develop field activities, always with the aim of combating informality, which is the main task of ATK.
