And, the country's largest party, Vetevendosje, which repeatedly called for new elections when other parties were in power, once again went against all but this time that the October 17th elections were not held.
Today the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, had called at the meeting all representatives of political parties to discuss the recommendation of the IKSP and the anti-Condavid Task Force for the impact the elections may have on the pandemic situation Kosovo is going through.
The LDK, the AAK's PDK agreed to hold the elections, but the campaign will be reduced in five days.
By contrast, VV leader Albin Kurti said his party requires that elections be postponed as the version of Deltak is becoming dangerous.
“For respecting the professional assessment of the National Public Health Institute, signed by 11 total doctors, which is for delaying elections. Postponing the elections most costs exactly to our subject, since 2017 two national elections have been held,”, Kurti said, among other things, at the media conference.
The first of LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, said the elections should not be postponed, adding that his party will voluntarily exercise five-day campaign or at all.
“The LDK will voluntarily exercise five-day or no camps to maintain people's health. Such a political scenario does not lead to execution because, in question, democracy, has to do with the will of choice, there was no reconciliation for the delay of elections. This is a good day for democracy. We have to take care of the health of our citizens but above all the government”, he added.
So did the chairman of PDK, Memli Krasniqi, who said elections should be held by respecting government measures.
“We are willing not only to cut the campaign completely, but to suspend the whole. To have rigorous respect for measures imposed by the government”, Krasniqi said, among other things.
But the President's decision was not late either. At a media conference, she announced that 17 October would remain the date of local elections.
The election “Data remains what has been in the absence of a reconciliation. We agreed with the majority of parties, if there is a passage to the epidemiological situation, we will sit back and discuss the date of the elections”, she said. /FrontOnline
