The complex was the focus of the fight against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda for nearly 20 years until last month, when American troops withdrew without announcing Afghan authorities, reports the BBC.
A coalition force led by the United States arrived in December 2001, and Bagram developed on a major basis that could accommodate up to 10,000 soldiers.
There is a prison in the complex in which 5,000 Taliban prisoners were reported, while Taliban sources claim they released prisoners.
