Accommodation of Afghans in Kosovo could be a challenge to the country's budget, if they don't get help from the US, the Online Economy has told the country's legal circumstances connoisseur Anton Noecaj.
He further adds that another danger Kosovo should take into account is the possibility of any Taliban attacks as a result of the assistance offered.
I see it from two perspectives, first aspect humanitarian and legal obligations always based on the capacities we have as a country. The rest is the political and moral aspect we have towards Afghanistan, as it is considered one of the first states that has recognised Kosovo. We have an obligation that we may have a budget problem, but hopefully we have US support for their temporary housing”.
“What is happening in Afghanistan can also be considered a concern for attracting recognitions, but also the target of various Taliban attacks, but fortunately we have the Kosovo police, and we cannot see it as a potential risk of any kind of” attack, he stressed.
Noecaj adds that a very important part in this process is the verification of those people, which is the lack of access to documents rather than Kosovo's capacities for such verification.
The “within this accession process was also part of the verification of lists and of these people who gave in to the US, and Kosovo is a transit country for these people and it should be mentioned that there are few countries that have accepted the toy that are in help, so I think I don't see any danger even in their verification, but we don't have the capacity to verify them, because we don't have access to their” documents, Noecaj concluded.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that a month that is being prepared to house a group of citizens from Afghanistan after the conflict in this country, EO reports.
That preparation Kurti said they are doing in full co-ordination with the US, adding that they have done this job quietly and seriously.
The Kosovo government last night has approved the Interior Ministry's request for providing temporary and immediate protection to persons endangered by internal conflict in Afghanistan.
