8-year-old urinated in bookstores, crowd seeks his death penalty

The boy was arrested and accused of pissing in a religious school library last month. The mob claims he committed blasphemy, an act condemned to death in Pakistan.

Paramilitary troops were sent to the area where the event occurred to maintain order and security. Many Hindu families left their fears.

“He (son) is unaware of the matters of blasphemy and has been falsely charged. You still don't understand the crime and why he was held in prison for a week”, a member of his family has indicated.

This issue has shocked activists and legal experts, who view accusations of blasphemy against the child as unprecedented. The Law on blasphemy in Pakistan has long been criticised by human rights groups.
