U.S. regulators have added a new warning to the vaccine against coronary, Johnson & Johnson, after a possible link has been established between the vaccine and a rare neurological disease called the Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced this warning on July 12th, but at the same time said it is still unclear whether the vaccine is affecting people to deal with this syndrome.
People with this immune disease experience muscle weakness and, in some cases, paralysis.
This decision was made after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as well as the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, accepted about 100 reports from people with symptoms of this syndrome after taking the vaccine from J&J.
Almost all the people are hospitals and one person is dead, the Food and Drug Administration has announced.
Most of the reported cases have been men... most of the age of 50 or older... and usually two weeks after the vaccine.
The number of reported and vaccine-related cases represents an extremely low figure compared to 13 million Americans who have received J&J company vaccines.
Health officials believe the vaccine's benefits exceed the risks.
