He Was a Member The KLA and worked in the demining sector, when during the cleanup of a difficult grass and bush terrain, a mine broke out and injured it along with other colleagues.
In Info Magazine of Kosovo, he said he had voluntarily received this task because it was urgent that land be cleared, as residents and his KLA colleagues were suffering.
“We have fallen into the last minute, that then even KFOR units have arrived, but they have found no”, Smajli said, recalling the tragic moment of this explosion.
The moment the mines exploded, I lost my sight, and I knew I didn't. I remember having suffered so much pain and begging my friends to kill me that I couldn't bear the pain. Then I lost consciousness, which returned me until I was taken to Ferizaj Hospital”.
From there I was taken to the Pristina hospital, where what was going on was still unknown because half was with Serbian doctors who refused to leave the hospital. I stayed there two days and was then sent to Kukes by my family. From there I was sent to Germany, where they tried to restore my head and save my life because there was no hope for”.
Despite this, he says that he has no regrets about his decision to appear in the demining sector, saying that he was prepared for such calamities to occur.
“Vulnet has been huge and we've been prepared for that job. It is known that someone should be looking forward to winning all the other”, he said.
