Nurses were financed through a World Bank loan, as part of the emergency project to manage pandemic in Kosovo.
Nurses were employed by contracts for six months of work. And the Health Ministry (MSH) has announced that these contracts will no longer be continued.
The Shneta newspaper has provided an announcement by official Agim Aliu, who on behalf of UN Secretary Naim Bardiqi, has announced to nurses that their contracts will not be continued. Reasoning is about lack of funds.
“... due to lack of funds from the category of goods and services, contracts cannot be continued”, says this announcement.
Nurses who were employed through this project have reacted through a letter they sent to Health Minister Arben Vitita and Secretary Bardiqi.
They've demanded that their contracts be continued.
According to them if the MSH had a budget for 422 nurses employed in the vaccine centers, it had to secure a budget for them as well, or the same others continued contracts, since they served in the most difficult period, risking their health.
“We as staff seek understanding and hope to review your decision and once because you at a very difficult time pandemic are driving 360 health workers out of work who have come out of support in the most difficult days in facing the global pandemic, Covid 19”, says the nurses' letter.
