This is the second such authorisation that the global organ has given to a Chinese company, after Sinopharm, says Euronews.
In a statement Tuesday, the United Nations health agency said the data presented to its experts showed that two doses of the vaccine prevented people from receiving symptoms of COVIDD-19 in about half of those who got the shot.
O The BSH said there were some elderly adults registered in research, so it couldn't assess how effective vaccines were in people over 60 years of age.
“Anyway, O The BSH is not recommending an upper age limit for the” vaccine, the agency said, adding that data collected from the use of Sinovac in other countries “s suggest that vaccines will likely have a safeguard effect on elderly persons”.
