Interior Minister Jhelal Svecla has cancelled the tender, worth 21m euros, for supply with personal identification documents. This tender was opened at the time when Agim Veliu was in charge of the MPB.
The news has made it known to Minister Jhelal Svecla, who has said they are being driven to act to protect general interest and spending public money.
This is his full announcement:
Dear citizens,
Driven to act to protect general interest and spending public money, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has cancelled the procurement draft for supply of personal identification documents, which included spending 21m euros. According to the commission's report for reviewing the process, planning as well as the arguments for obtaining documents and supporting elements were insufficient and unconvincing. The reasons for these documents and supporting elements, such as advancing systems and maintaining them, are considered to exceed economic logic and pose a risk of not getting the value of money spent as legislation defines in force.
I'm as committed as ever to defending civic and state interest.
