Other photos show items that have not been moved for 35 years when the explosion at the nuclear plant occurred. Photos were taken by Arkadiusz Podniesiski, 48, by Wroclaw, Poland.
On April 26, 1986, the terrible accident that nearly struck mankind took place at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. An explosion sent 200 tons of concrete to the sky that held down the reactor core. A second stronger explosion followed him, creating a radiation cloud 400 times larger than the bomb thrown at Hiroshima.
After the incident, areas within the 30km radius were closed, and about 250,000 people were evacuated. None of the residents have been allowed to return to those areas, as there is still much radiation.
