The government chief said during a conference with German Minister for Europe Michael Roth that the EU has received “hostage” Kosovo, as it referred to free movement.
While naming the chess game, Rama said it is not the decision of the entire EU, but only one state that does not allow the free movement of Kosovo citizens.
The prime minister reiterated several times that Balkan citizens should be allowed to move free, despite the vaccines they have made.
“The movement cannot be fragmented by vaccines and production firms. Politics is chess. Chess is a hostage game. But I don't think the EU should take any persons hostage in this region because of the firm that took the vaccine. It is the possibility of who has the right to free movement to test or to be vaccinated. But why take the test to move to the EU, the Sinovac and Sputnik. Here are Serbs, Macedonians, Serbs. The EU has taken Kosovo hostage. It's a chess game and one of the game figures has decided to keep that soldier hostage. And don't move free. Not the whole EU, but a soldier there in the diagonal. It's embarrassing, but I don't know what we do. ” said Rama.
German Minister Michael Roth, as he stopped on the issue of visa liberalisation for Kosovo, said the EU must keep its promises.
“The EU has to keep its promises, and I say that as autocrytic. Visa liberalisation with Kosovo should have been done for a long time. That's because the conditions have been met. In this case, it is the same logic. I cannot change EU treaties, the European Union is built on consensus and I cannot complain in this direction”, he said.
