Newly elected Presevo municipality Mayor Ardita Sinani talks about priorities [...]
The newly elected mayor of Presevo municipality, Ardita Sinani, speaks of her priorities, pledging she would be co-operating with the opposition.
Despite charges they have had for each other, Sinani says he will offer co-operation to the Serbian Alternative for Change and List, but will not deal with charges the former leader had, while adding that the situation in the Valley is bad.
Our “governance is Albanian majority, is one of the few municipalities in Belgrade that is not controlled by central power. The current situation is very bad. Right now I'm doing consulting with the institution's directors. Since the first meeting I will have with the members of the Municipal Council will be seen for allegedly having mismanagement of our budget and the means of our taxpayers”, she says.
She expects from the Kosovo government co-operation, since she says it is a necessity of time. While citing dialogue with Serbia, it adds that the valley should be handled with priority at the negotiating table.
“in this very important phase of Kosovo dialogue- Serbia is vital and necessary of the time and for a lasting and long-term peace in the Balkans, the Presevo Valley to be treated with priority at the negotiating table. It is the constant demand of Albanian political representatives of the Presevo Valley. It is vital and we need to co-ordinate well with official Pristina to harmonise our positions and demands. We also strongly demand that one of the government's priorities be Presevo Valley and be placed at the negotiating table”, she tells the KP.
In the extraordinary March 28th local elections, the Alternative for Change has emerged as the winner of the elections, but failed to secure 20 mandates in the Communist Assembly.
