Slovenian president has once again declared he disagrees with the “document paper” published a month ago in his Slovenian state. Moreover, the one in Pristina has stated it opposes changing borders. Borut Pahor has suggested that at the Brdo-Brijun summit held Monday, he will ask EU member states to continue expanding the European Union in the Western Balkans in order to avoid the idea of changing borders.
So he has declared after meeting with counterpart from Kosovo Vjosa Osmani.
Meanwhile, it has made it known that Kosovo's borders are defined in 2008 and that with the same status it will continue in the process of dialogue.
The new government in Kosovo should be willing to give dialogue a new incentive with all its power and authority. In the second part of this year, Slovenia will lead the EU, as I can say as head of state, because I am not the head of government, I would like to say that I would like to show some positive incentives in this regard. The first test for all leaders in this part of Europe will be the meeting Monday”, he added.
Slovenian portal “Necenszurirano. Like” published a document last month claiming to be a copy of the document issued by Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansha's office.
Under this document, re-assignment of Kosovo and Serbia's border is proposed, uniting Kosovo with Albania, uniting the majority Albanian parts of Montenegro and Northern Macedonia with Albania, but Pahor in Pristina has said it opposes it.
“me order “paper” for change of borders I disagree. My attitude in this regard is quite the opposite of not discussing such alternatives to changing borders. I want to convince co-ordinators in the EU and in the Balkans to start with the enlargement process and the reform process. This is a historical must”, he has declared.
From whomever these documents come out, President Osmani is demanding the citizens' confidence that the heads of state do not support that. According to her, Slovenia has never had evolution on any adventure, as it called them, for changing borders.
We must above all have self-confidence. Regardless of who publishes “non papers”, regardless of who can push ideas of change of borders, the important is that representatives of the Republic of Kosovo will never accept them”, it has stated.
Furthermore, the Slovenian president has been asked whether he has received any letters to offer guarantees to former KLA fighters being held at The Hague.
I can't say anything because I don't understand this, I don't follow”, he said short.
At the joint conference, Osmani has stressed that the European integration process is a priority and that Kosovo has met the criteria for visa liberalisation, but remains the EU to keep its promise. Support has also been requested in providing vaccines.
“Akoma need support in vaccines and I strongly hope that Slovenia will help Kosovo symbolically, as a confirmation of excellent relations and strong friendship between our two countries. Because as our people say, but I believe other peoples, a good friend is always in difficult days. And Slovenia has always known that to stay Kosovo side by side on a difficult day”, Osmani said.
