It was two years since the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo changed the Code of Criminal Procedure today, thus enabling judgment in the absence of war criminals. 22 years after the war, two years after this completion -- the investigation and trial of war crimes still remains the silent issue of our institutions and justice system” -- Kurti wrote in a post in “Facebook”
Furthermore, the prime minister stressed that they are working on increasing the number of prosecutors within Kosovo's Special Prosecutorship to enable judgment in absentia for war criminals.
Having prioritized addressing crimes committed during the war, our government has made the changes necessary to facilitate the work of justice institutions for judging in the absence of war criminals. We're also working on increasing the number of prosecutors within the Special Prosecutor. Meanwhile, with the establishment of the Institute for Crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, we will finally have a clear and complete record of Serbia's crimes in our country. Kosovo needs active and wise prosecutors, and efficient and informed judges. We have time to lose”, he wrote further.
