Kurti has made it known through a post at Twitterão, while naming it a permanent friend of Kosovo.
“Eliot Engel is a constant friend of Kosovo. He has represented our country in Congress for decades and he still cares about our independence and our future”, wrote among other things the executive.
“I thanked him for his support and invited him to celebrate our independence and the 75th anniversary of our birth next year in Kosovo”, Prime Minister Kurti has concluded.
Engel has completed his mandate as chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives last year. His current successor is Gregory Meeks, to whom he had congratulated Kurti's mandate through a letter.
“honoured Gregory Meeks: We are happy with the news of your choice as the next chairman of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee. We're happy with the news of your choice as the next head of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee. Being aware of the contribution you have made to our country in the most crucial times for us, as votes against the ban on military intervention funds in Kosovo in 1999 and co-sponsored the resolution on Kosovo's independence in 2002, we believe that our country will continue to have an ally and friend as head of the House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs Committee. Your progressive agenda, pushed forward in your mandate as a member of the Council of State of New York and then as a conventioner, inspired us all”, was said in his letter.
