Deliu-Codra: Justice system is not taking cases of violations in Kosovo seriously

PDK MP Blerta Deliu Kodra called for cases of violence in Kosovo not to be silent but reported and to seek accounts from competent institutions. This morning alone, we are reporting for the violation of a minor girl in Mazpic, in the Mitrovica municipality, as well as other cases in Fusha Kosovo [...]
This morning alone, we have reportedly the violation of a minor girl in Mazpic, the Mitrovica municipality, as well as other cases in Fushe Kosovo and over the past few weeks. During 2020 alone, 40 cases of sexual harassment were reported. Imagine those cases that are not reported”, Deliu-Codra said
She has said the victims in most cases are women and girls.
The last <x0.>Incident, the case in Fushe Kosovo, the tragic case in the Pec Community, and other cases reported this week testify that the rape/injurious victims are of two genders of various ages, including a six-year-old child. Although in most cases the victims are women and girls”, the PDK MP said.
Among other things, she added that harassment is punishable acts with Kosovo's penal code and that our society is inclined to cover them, not to report them, and that mainly because of fear of stigmatisation and accountability from responsible institutions.
The consequences these bring are tragic and extremely complex. I call for these cases not to be silent, but to be reported and to seek accounts from competent institutions. Hideting sexual abuse allows aggressors to remain unpunished and repeat their actions. No citizen should be abandoned by the state even when trying to hide from families unjustly. ”
In the end, it has criticised the justice system, where it says it has not taken this form of gender discrimination seriously.
“The system of justice has not taken this form of gender discrimination seriously, which makes the victim's practical information on how to report these phenomena. Therefore, it requires the government to objectively create an inter-institute task force with representatives as well as the expert community”, Deliu-Codra concluded.
