The chief of European diplomacy at yesterday's media conference following the EU member states' foreign ministers' meeting, said they cannot go to the summer break without the Kosovo-Serbia talks resumed.
The last “that I have spoken with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, they need time to prepare, they claim the outgoing government did not inform them of the situation of previous talks, that they have just arrived, that they should carefully study the file. I understand, but at the same time, we can't go on vacation without starting talks again. Finally, we have agreed that before the General Affairs Council meeting, which is more or less on June 20th, before the General Affairs Council in June, we will have to have this meeting again. And I hope they have all the information required, we can assure them if they don't, so they can come to Brussels well prepared”, Borell said before the media.
Borrell announced that next week he will host a traditional dinner for Western Balkan leaders in Brussels.
At dinnertime, we will discuss the entire political situation in the Western Balkans. The Western Balkans is a major geopolitical problem. The region is part of the problem and part of the solution. We should look at it from a geopolitical standpoint, and we will do it next week with all leaders from the Western Balkans”, he said.
