Samuel Cassidy, 57, shot nine colleagues in a San Jose California train center to death before he finally killed himself, writes Independent.
“Based on the current evidence, provided by the Bureau of Investigation at the scene and at the suspect's settlement, it is clear that this was a planned action and that the suspect was prepared to use firearms to take as many lives as he could if police were not able to get in to stop the fight”, the local police statement said.
The local police commander, Laurie Smith, said it's clear that Cassidy fired himself at the time the police approached him, as it became known that the suspect had three weapons with him.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any motive for the attacker, but it seems that Cassidy has been a disgruntled worker in the train centre.
Police investigator Joseph Piazza said the weapons were deliberately located in different parts of the house. “If he was contacted by someone of law enforcement, he would have access to those weapons in different parts of the house”, Piazza said.
