The president of the Federation of Health Unions in Kosovo, Blerim Syla, has talked about the delay of Kosovo's anti-Convid19 vaccine.
In a pronouncement to Periscope, Syla said it is political and cannot be blamed.
With the beginning of pandemic, scientists and major pharmaceutical companies start working on the vaccine insurance, so we had to make lobby policies to take advantage of these companies. According to the media, large and more developed countries have provided the vaccine earlier than the smaller countries, and this is a pity for Kosovo as well. But the blame is political and can't be blamed, since if Kosovo has not had the opportunity itself to provide vaccines, then through allies it has had to apply for supply or even together with Albania”, Syla has said.
He has said that if Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has managed to reach agreement with Pfizer, then he would be able to get additional doses on behalf of Kosovo, if this is required by the Kosovo government.
On the other hand, Syla has said that according to information she possesses, the Government of Kosovo has been able to obtain vaccines through the World Bank earlier.
“We have information that the World Bank has approved an aid in purchasing vaccines and not only to be expected for the Covax programme, but according to some sources they say the Government of Kosovo has been delayed at demand. It means, the World Bank has been able to mediate faster than the Government of Kosovo for the purchase of vaccines, but they have not had this competence on the part of the government”, Syla has said.
He has considered that the World Bank has been one of the best mediators for providing vaccines from pharmaceutical companies.
We remember that anti-Convid 19 vaccine was expected to arrive in Kosovo during the month of February, but that has not yet happened. /Periscopi
