Study published in the magazine JAMA Network Open, used advanced techniques to examine the brain of people affected by COVID-19.
The research revealed that patients severely affected by coronarys were more likely to have a movement disorder as a tremor or crisis, frontal lobe syndrome, or brain trunk damage that can cause social behavior problems.
The study was conducted at a single hospital in Paris between March 30th and June 11, 2020.
It included 78 patients with COVIED-19, who also submitted to a special test by seeing the electrical shock of brain cells during hospitalization called electroencefalogram, or EEG.
Many, but not all, of these patients had also carried out other advanced image techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging of the brain or MRI.
Of the 78 patients involved in the study, 9 were found to have injuries, while the cause is still unknown, the findings reinforce the hypothesis that the virus could invade the frontal lobe through nerves in the nose, researchers said.
