The State Department announced that the award would be given to anyone providing information that would prevent Salim Jamil Ayyash from conducting an attack on US citizens and the interests of this country.
Ayyash is a member of Hezbollah's 121st Unit, which the State Department reports to the directors of the extremist organisation, Hasan Nasrallah.
The statement also reportedly is known to include Ayyash in previous attempts to wound American soldiers.
The international Tribunal sentenced Ayyas in absentia to five life sentences for a suicide truck attack in Beirut, in which Hariri and 21 others were killed.
The court concluded that Ayyash led the group that carried out the attack.
In addition to the December 2020 decision, a court in the Netherlands issued a new international arrest warrant for Ayyas and authorised the prosecutor to ask Interpol to issue red warnings to member states for his arrest.
Three other Hezbollah members were convicted last August of involvement also in a murder that shocked the Middle East.
