Over 32,000 volunteers have participated in the U.S. test, most of them in America, but also in Chile and Peru.
The results released Monday show that Astra-Zeneca is 79 percent effective against symptoms from the coronary and 100 percent effective in preventing people from seriously ill.
The results were released by British/Swede company AstraZeneca, which has developed a vaccine in collaboration with Oxford University.
They are expected to encourage several European Union countries, which have suspended the use of AstraZeneca after some reports that vaccine causes blood clots.
After a review, the European Barnets Agency has confirmed last week that the vaccine is safe and effective.
AstraZeneca has not yet been authorised for US use and may not be needed.
In the U.S., three vaccines are currently used against coronary: Pfizer. BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson&Johnson.
